In November, the ship was repositioned to New York for two 11-day cruises and later that month started year-round Caribbean service from Miami. Here you’ll enjoy mouthwatering gourmet cuisine. Plus, get oven-baked pizzas and calzones, salads, soft-serve ice cream, and frozen yogurt whenever the cravings strike. You’ll enjoy your meal among Asian prayer rolls and Mongolian-inspired fabrics that infuse northern-country style into this unique culinary experience.

In all rooms you'll find both 110 and 230 power outlets, as well as USB outlets. All are by the desk; in other words, there are no outlets by the bed, a real shortcoming in our opinion. In standard rooms (inside, ocean view and balcony), the power outlets are located directly beneath the mirror, making it impossible to plug-in any oversized chargers. Bring a power cord if you have oversized chargers (like for a camera battery). Carnival ensures there’s enough love to go around with age-appropriate programs and activities for all ages. That being said, Carnival has a wonderful kids program for ages 2 to 17.
You can find family-friendly spa treatments, too, in case you want to take one of your kids for a spa day. Of course, if your idea of outdoor fun includes more lounging than adrenaline, you’ll easily find lots of spots to kick back and soak in some rays, thanks to the plentiful sun decks, including the adults-only Serenity sun deck. If you’re not interested in the water features, you’ll find fun at the ropes course and the SkyRide experience, both of which test your comfort with heights. As mentioned, there are plenty of complimentary dining options on the ship. You’ll never get bored of the same ol’ thing when hunting down your breakfast or dinner, and you might not even feel the need to try any of the extra-fee dining options. Carnival Vista Deluxe Ocean View cabins are 230 square feet and have two bathrooms, one with toilet and shower and one with toilet and junior tub.
Aft of the Lido Marketplace is Pizzeria del Capitano, the ship’s 24-hour pizzeria. It’s flanked by the Seafood Shack, where cruisers pay extra for clam chowder, lobster rolls, and other New England-style seafood dishes. Carnival Vista has two main dining rooms, Horizons and Reflections, large banquet-style venues that look fancy but are never stuffy. The dress code on Carnival Vista is pretty casual, even on “elegant nights”, so there is no need to pack a tuxedo or cocktail dress if you think you’ll be happy dining in the buffet on the more formal evenings. Carnival Magic and Carnival Dream lack the IMAX theater, Dr. Seuss Bookville and SkyRide that Carnival Vista has.

Cruisers who prefer to put on their own show, or watch the talents (or lack thereof) of their shipmates, should seek out the Lip Sync Battle competitions throughout the cruise or the always-popular karaoke nights onboard. The RedFrog Pub and Brewery is a go-to spot for beer brewed right onboard, but it also has a small bites menu for those needing fuel for a game of foosball or cornhole.
There was no sense that if you didn't do it all you were missing out. Perhaps that's because our fellow passengers were all laid-back, as ready to chill out as they were to have fun.
